Stacy Head is one of two at-large members of the New Orleans City Council.

Head previously represented District B on the New Orleans City Council, which covers much of Uptown and other neighborhoods.

She was re-elected to her second term to District B in 2010, earning 67 percent of the vote over challenger Corey Watson. [1]

In 2012, Head was elected to the at-large seat on the City Council vacated by the departure of Arnie Fielkow, eliminating state Rep. Austin Badon and several other challengers in the general election, and narrowly defeating Cynthia Willard-Lewis in the runoff.

She chose to be sworn into the seat immediately, limiting her to only one full term in the seat. The vacancy she left caused the District B interim council member appointment controversy, leading to the Mitch Landrieu's eventual appointment of Diana Bajoie a month later.

Her election and the subsequent vacancy in District B was also what first prompted the 2012 special election to be called.
