The Freret Business and Property Owners Association promotes the Freret Street business corridor between Jefferson Avenue and Napoleon Avenue, in part using its TheNewFreret.com website and branding.

The association meets quarterly. Its chair is Neal Bodenheimer of Cure, and its marketing chair is Loyola theatre instructor Kellie Grengs, who owns Brottworks studio with her husband.

In September 2010, the group won a $25,000 grant from Markham Vineyards to help pay for marketing and some limited security[1]. The association also instituted $120-per-month membership dues in September, and has begun considering support for a fee-based private security district[2].

The association strongly supports the street's signature event, the monthly Freret Market, but the two are separate entities.
